Info
I have been using the Web and Internet since 1994, when I was
studying a Computer Science Degree (BSc) course at UEL
(University of East London) in Barking, Essex, UK.
I first started using technology at 3-4
years of age by visits to the Arcades and
playing on basic handheld video games. Later on I
was given an Atari 2600 and a Sinclair ZX Spectrum, where
I learned programming in BASIC, plus playing a lot of
video games. A few years later, Amstrad took over
Sinclair and so I got a Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128+2.
My mid-teenage years I did get a Commodore Amiga, followed
by my first PC, a second-hand Olivetti 386sx-16mhz.
I started learning HTML in 1994, hosting my first website on UEL's
web server.
The early days of the Web and the Internet was a big
factor for me in deciding to work in IT
professionally. My first IT job was as a Junior IT
Administrator back in 1996 administrating Windows NT,
UNIX and Novell servers. My work lead me to mainly
using and supporting Microsoft software. In 2000 I
worked as a Software Developer for a number of years,
until 2015, when I reverted back to IT Support roles.
My early IT job experience was working in
industries such as investment banking, insurance, and
media. Recently, the IT
jobs I have worked in have been with nonprofits.
In 2025 I have been
studying a few courses and volunteering with a local
Charity. Later on in 2025 I got The Spectrum - a modern
day remake of the ZX Spectrum; I returned back to 8-bit
computing, which made me smile.
